Spending nearly 170 billion, Thuy Tien becomes the largest shareholder of Vietravel

On March 13, 2025, Ms. Nguyen Thuy Tien purchased 6 million VTR shares of Vietravel, becoming the largest shareholder with a 20.98% ownership stake. The total transaction value was 168 billion VND, equivalent to 28,000 VND/share, 25% higher than the closing price that day. Currently, VTR’s share price has dropped to 22,200 VND/share. Vietravel also announced the termination of operations of Vietravel Investment Company due to the impacts of Covid-19, leading to restructuring requirements. The company plans to issue 28.66 million new shares in Q1-Q2/2025 at 12,000 VND/share to raise nearly 344 billion VND, primarily to pay off debts to four banks. Vietravel prioritizes paying off debts that are due first.
