Surge in Ethereum activity may indicate dusting attacks: researcher

Ethereum’s activity recently surged, reaching close to 8 million addresses. This spike included 2.7 million new addresses, marking a 170% increase, attributed to low gas fees post the Fusaka network upgrade.

The researcher reported that over $740,000 has been lost due to address poisoning attacks impacting 116 victims, with many new addresses receiving minimal transactions, increasing their vulnerability to scams.
