Swedish central bank’s research report highlights convergence in stablecoin policies between the US and Europe

Riksbank’s report indicates that despite varying regulations, the US and Europe are aligning on stablecoin policies, emphasizing access to settlement systems and collateral usage.

Both regions permit the use of central bank reserves, though practical restrictions hinder broader stablecoin adoption. The ECB has not fully liberalized stablecoin usage, despite allowing some non-bank institutions to hold central bank balances.
