The International Air Transport Association (IATA) forecasts that by 2025, the global aviation industry will carry 5 billion passengers and exceed 1 trillion USD in revenue. Vietnam Airlines is seizing this opportunity with plans to lease and purchase 50 narrow-body aircraft. Chairman Dang Ngoc Hoa stated that the airline will receive 14 aircraft by 2030 and 18 each year thereafter. Additionally, Vietnam Airlines is preparing to add 30-50 wide-body planes to modernize its fleet, aiming to dominate the domestic market and expand internationally. Competition in the Vietnamese aviation sector is intensifying with the emergence of Sun PhuQuoc Airways. Vietjet Air and Vietravel Airlines also have ambitious fleet expansion plans. Vietnam Airlines indicates that this competition is normal and considers it an opportunity for operational improvement.
