July 2025 marks 25 years of the Vietnam stock market operation, starting on July 28, 2000, with just 2 stocks. By 2005, the market featured major company Vinh Son-Song Hinh (VSH) with a market capitalization of 16 trillion VND. In January 2006, Vinamilk (VNM) was listed, doubling the HOSE’s capitalization. Joining the WTO in November 2006 spurred many major companies like FPT and SSI to list. FPT reached a market cap of 28 trillion VND shortly after listing. From 2015-2022, Vinamilk and Vingroup took turns holding the top capital position. Currently, Vingroup has the second-largest cap (365 trillion VND), while Vietcombank has led since 2021 with 476 trillion VND. More than 50 companies have market capitalizations over 1 billion USD, creating a vibrant market with numerous opportunities for new companies.
