The 25-year Capitalization Race

The Vietnamese stock market has been operational for 25 years, starting from July 28, 2000, with two initial stocks. By 2005, hydroelectric company Vinh Son Song Hinh (VSH) became the largest company on the market with a capitalization of 16 trillion VND. Vinamilk (VNM) joined the market in 2006, doubling the market capitalization. After Vietnam joined the WTO in 2006, the stock market boomed with many large enterprises like FPT and Vingroup entering. Vietcombank (VCB) has held the number one spot in capitalization since 2021, exceeding 476 trillion VND. Currently, there are over 50 companies with market capitalization above 1 billion USD, and future listings like Techcom Securities (TCBS) are anticipated.
