The EU proposes a delay in certain aspects of its artificial intelligence legislation

The European Union is considering a delay in implementing parts of its AI legislation primarily due to pressure from leading tech companies and the US government. The decision is expected to be made on November 19th.

The proposal includes a framework termed ‘Simplification’ aimed at relaxing stringent digital rules related to AI.

A potential grace period for companies violating high-risk AI rules is under consideration, along with a deferral of penalties for breaching transparency regulations until August 2027.
