UK officer stole 50 Bitcoin during Silk Road 2.0 investigation

Paul Chowles, formerly of the UK National Crime Agency, was sentenced for stealing 50 Bitcoin during the investigation of Silk Road 2.0, now valued at around 5.9 million USD. He pleaded guilty to multiple charges including theft and concealing criminal property.

Chowles tried to hide his tracks using a crypto mixer and spent part of the stolen Bitcoin via crypto debit cards. He was linked to Thomas White’s cryptocurrency accounts and is expected to face further confiscation proceedings from authorities.
