UK police force gets 665,000 USD Bitcoin windfall from seizures

The Lancashire Police force received a boost of 665,000 USD (£500,000) from assets converted to Bitcoin by criminals, reflecting a significant increase in asset value since the theft occurred in December 2017.

British law restricts the compensation given to victims, meaning any surplus after the liquidation of seized Bitcoin will go towards a crime-fighting fund.

This fund aims to finance initiatives such as drone purchases and programs for combating anti-social behavior, ultimately contributing to community safety and future crime prevention efforts.
