US Senate delays cryptocurrency market structure bill consideration until next year

Reported on December 16th, the US Senate Banking Committee has decided to delay the hearing on the cryptocurrency market structure bill until 2026, marking a significant setback for the crypto industry that was hoping for prompt regulatory guidance.

Despite the delay, Senate leaders are still engaged in negotiations regarding the bill. A spokesperson noted progress made by Chairman Tim Scott and Democratic counterparts, although substantial legislative action is yet to be realized.

As Congress returns after the holiday break, urgent focus will shift to funding the US government, impacting the time legislators have to address cryptocurrency market regulation before midterm elections.
