Utah’s Senate passes Bitcoin bill — but scraps key provision

Utah’s Bitcoin bill has been approved without a significant reserve clause that allowed for a 5% investment of digital assets. This amendment was made due to concerns, with the bill now ensuring basic protections for citizens regarding Bitcoin activities.

The bill passed with a 19-7-3 vote and is awaiting action from Governor Spencer Cox. Similar legislation is in the works in Arizona and Texas, indicating a growing interest in Bitcoin reserves at the state level.
