Vietjet Air has submitted a proposal to operate direct flights to Con Dao using the Comac ARJ21 aircraft starting from April 15, 2025. The flights will connect from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Con Son Airport. Vietjet is seeking support from ACV for ground services for this new aircraft type. Currently, ACV is completing necessary procedures while assuring readiness in infrastructure and safety. The addition of Vietjet to this route is expected to provide more options for passengers, especially after Bamboo Airways ceased operations on this route. Passengers traveling from the North usually have to transit through other airports. According to Vietnam’s Civil Aviation Authority, the design and safety standards of the Comac ARJ21 aircraft are assessed to have only minor differences compared to international standards. The Comac aircraft system, a state-owned enterprise in China, has delivered 160 units to various airlines, primarily in China.
