The gaming industry, particularly esports, is rapidly emerging as a billion-dollar economic sector in Vietnam. According to Newzoo’s report, Vietnam’s gaming revenue is estimated to reach $1.66 billion by 2025, with an annual growth rate of 9.77%, potentially hitting $2.42 billion by 2029. Vietnam ranks 5th in Southeast Asia for gaming revenue and is among the top 5 mobile game-producing countries globally with 4.2 billion downloads. Major gaming companies like Garena, Tencent, and Riot Games are actively partnering with local firms such as VNG and Gamota to grow the market. Despite notable successes, continued development requires government support for the gaming and esports sectors.
