CMC Corporation has reportedly fallen victim to a ransomware attack executed by the Crypto24 group on April 12, with approximately 2 TB of data, including token data and website information, compromised. Ransomware is malware that encrypts victims’ data to demand ransom, often making the recovery of encrypted data nearly impossible without backup. Global incidents of ransomware attacks have targeted major companies like TSMC and Boeing. CMC, a leading tech group in Vietnam, is notable for its proactive stance against ransomware, promoting its CMC Crypto SHIELD solution. According to the National Cybersecurity Association, 46.15% of agencies and businesses reported having experienced a cyberattack last year, with 6.77% facing constant threats. The Ministry of Public Security’s Cybersecurity Department highlighted over 74,000 cyberattack alerts, including 83 targeted APT attacks.
