Vingroup Stocks Contribute Nearly 100 Points Year-to-Date, How Much Higher Can VN-Index Go?

In 2023, “Vingroup stocks” (VIC, VHM, VRE, VPL) contributed over 93 points to VN-Index, while the index has only increased by less than 50 points. Stocks have surged notably, with VIC rising 125%, VHM 57%, and VRE 47%. The total capitalization of this group has reached nearly 850 trillion VND, accounting for 15% of HoSE market. While some investors are concerned about potential impacts if Vingroup’s stocks cool down, experts believe there is still room for growth, estimating the VN-Index could reach 1,900 – 2,000 points, even a long-term target of 2,500 points within 2-3 years. Foreign capital has begun to flow back, and anticipated upgrades from FTSE and MSCI could greatly benefit the market. Banking stocks and Vingroup remain attractive options for investors.
