Vingroup has sent a letter to the Prime Minister proposing the inclusion of several renewable energy projects into the revised Power Plan VIII. The total capacity of these projects reaches 47,500 MW, divided into two phases: 20,500 MW from 2025 to 2030 and 27,000 MW from 2031 to 2035, with an estimated investment of 20-25 billion USD for the first phase. Notable projects include a floating solar power project on Son La reservoir (3,500 MW) and a solar and wind power project in Dak Lak (9,000 MW). Additionally, Vingroup plans to build a LNG thermal power plant in Hai Phong with a capacity of 5,000 MW, requiring about 5.5 billion USD investment from 2025 to 2030.
Vingroup commits to actualizing a total capacity of 25,500 MW of renewable energy and LNG during 2025-2030, with an investment of approximately 25-30 billion USD. The government aims for an 8% GDP growth by 2025, necessitating sufficient electricity to achieve this target. The Ministry of Industry and Trade proposes to increase total electricity capacity to 211,805 MW by 2030, with investments of about 136-172 billion USD for both power and transmission networks.
