On July 20, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin announced that the gas limit for Ethereum has risen to 37.3 million. Approximately 50% of stakers support an increase to 45 million, which aims to improve throughput by enabling more operations per block.
Buterin highlighted the launch of Geth v1.16.0 as key to this scaling. This update drastically reduces disk space for archive nodes, boosting efficiency and data access, essential for developers and validators.
