Vietjet Air has proposed to launch direct flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Con Dao using Comac ARJ21 aircraft, starting April 15, 2025. Vietjet has sent a proposal to the Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) requesting ground service support. ACV has confirmed readiness in terms of infrastructure and safety but awaits completion of procedures. The introduction of this route by Vietjet is expected to provide more options for passengers, especially after Bamboo Airways ceased operations on this route. Currently, travelers from the North must connect through Tan Son Nhat or Can Tho to reach Con Dao. The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam is working with China on the design standards for the Comac ARJ21, indicating that the standards have minor differences compared to FAA regulations. As of 2025, Comac has delivered 160 C909 aircraft to various airlines.
